Electrical

Cable, glanding, termination, MCC and switchgear

ELECOverview

LV and HV electrical installation across process plants — support systems, cable pulling, glanding, termination and equipment installation. Ex glands and enclosures are selected and installed to match the zone and gas group on the area classification drawing.

ScopeWhat the work covers

Support systems

  • Cable tray, ladder rack and trunking installation
  • Conduit, GI and flexible conduit runs
  • Structural supports, hangers and fabrication
  • Segregation of power, control and instrument routes

Cabling

  • LV and HV cable laying, pulling and dressing
  • Armoured and unarmoured cable glanding
  • Ex d and Ex e glanding for classified areas
  • Power, control, instrument and fibre termination
  • Cable numbering, tagging and schedule updating

Equipment and systems

  • MCC, switchboard and distribution board installation
  • Motor termination and local control stations
  • Lighting, small power and socket outlet circuits
  • Earthing, bonding and lightning protection
  • UPS, battery charger and DC distribution

Segregation, glanding and torque are where electrical work is won or lost.

Power, control and instrument routes stay segregated. Glands are selected against the zone and gas group on the area classification drawing rather than what happens to be on the van, and terminations are made to the stated torque and recorded.

These are the details nobody sees once the covers are back on, which is exactly why they get skipped. They are also the first things an Ex inspection finds.
