We do one thing, on one kind of site.
Dillon Engineering Services is an electrical and instrumentation contractor working on process plants in Singapore. We are not a general builder who also does E&I. This is the whole business, and it has been since 2000.
That focus is deliberate. Process E&I has its own vocabulary — hook-up standards, area classification, loop folders, cause and effect matrices — and the cost of not knowing it is discovered late, usually during commissioning, usually by the client.
We work mostly as a subcontractor to main contractors and directly for plant owners, from Jurong Island and the Tuas estates to mainland utilities and treatment sites.
Three things we hold to.
The drawing is the agreement.
We build what is issued for construction. When the drawing cannot be built as drawn, that is a technical query raised in writing, not a decision made quietly in the field by whoever is holding the spanner.
Documentation is part of the work, not after it.
Test results are recorded as the test happens. Cable schedules and as-builts are marked up as installation proceeds. A job that is physically complete but undocumented is not complete, and we do not invoice it as though it were.
Stop when conditions change.
A permit that no longer describes the work, an isolation that cannot be proven, a gas reading that moves — any of these stops the job until it is resolved. Schedule pressure is never a reason to carry on.
The same sequence on every job.
It is not complicated, and that is the point. Most problems on an E&I package come from steps taken out of order, not from difficult work.

Drawings and scope review
We work from your loop drawings, hook-up standards, cable schedules and area classification drawings. Discrepancies are raised as technical queries before material is ordered, not after it is on site.

Material take-off and staging
Take-off against the issued-for-construction drawings, then verification that glands, fittings and enclosures match the Ex protection concept for each area before anything is staged to the field.

Installation
Supports, tray and tubing first, then equipment, then cable. Work is released against permits and progressed on a plan that respects the mechanical and civil sequence rather than fighting it.

Termination
Field junction boxes, marshalling and system cabinets terminated to the wiring schedule, with continuity, insulation and polarity confirmed before any circuit is energised.

Loop check and test
Every loop proven end to end, from the field device to the control system graphic. Trips and alarms are verified at setpoint and the results signed into the loop folder.

Punch clearance and handover
Punch items tracked to closure, as-built drawings marked up, and the certificate and loop folder set handed over complete. The job is finished when the documentation is finished.
